DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Film works often explore the themes of concealment within intimate relationships, a topic our production team found extremely interesting. Our work begins with an intimate relationship, investigating the hidden murder and love within it.
The story unfolds through the complex relationship between three characters, exploring the tension between justice and self-preservation. Sloane's investigation is not only about finding the truth, but also a way to confront and resolve her unresolved emotions from the past, which enriches Sloane's character.
In terms of visual presentation, we adopted a minimalist and realistic style, using stable camera movements, negative space, and subtle contrasts of light and shadow to showcase the characters' repressed emotions. The cool, muted color palette reinforces a sense of emotional distance and unease, while warmer tones in memory sequences evoke an idealized and fragile past.
This film is produced as part of the Short Film Production module.
SYNOPSIS
An architect Jasper mourns his deceased ex-girlfriendMarnie every year with his girlfriend Sloane, but he doesn’tknow Marnie is also Sloane’s ex-girlfriend. Sloane suspects thatMarnie’s death is related to Jasper, so she pretends to be in lovewith him and get evidence to expose the truth that Jasper killsMarnie .
