What Remains (2026)
Water mixable oil paint on canvas series

My practice explores decay, consumption, and the temporary nature of beauty and life. Working from my own photography, I paint decaying fruits alongside man-made objects such as silver trays and mirrors, contrasting organic deterioration with polished surfaces. Through this, I investigate fragility, luxury, and changing value over time. Colour is central to my work, particularly the unexpected vibrancy of mould and rotting fruit. Using saturated tones, I focus on the textures and stages of decay that are often overlooked. Inspired by Dutch still life painting, my work re-interprets traditional symbolism to create contemporary still life compositions that reflect impermanence and the passage of time.
