Watercolour on fabric, wire, wool, body piercing jewellery

The female body in art is often reduced to oversexualisation and archetypical femininity. My work seeks to dismantle this narrow framing, not by rejecting sensuality or beauty, but by literally reframing it.
I am greatly interested in experimenting with sculptural materials to represent body parts. In this specific body of work, I decided to represent the female body as a concept, rather than attempting to give it an appearance which may become singular and reductive. To emphasise femininity, I used mediums which are deemed “delicate”, such as watercolours on fabric, and wool and wire. I coupled these materials with piercing jewellery to make my sculptures feel like intimate snapshots of a body in motion. These materials are manipulated, draped, and pierced to make forms which challenge the limits of the frame.
