My work explores imagined architectural environments inspired by organic forms. Using drawing and sculpture, I am interested in how societies might adapt to difficult future conditions using animal behaviour, movement, and protective structures. Recently, my work has focused on the idea of shared habitats and communities. I look at how these structures could function as living systems, using nests and other natural forms to show how human society can learn from nature.
I mainly work with cardboard and found materials to build my sculptures as they resemble the construction methods used in architectural model making. Cardboard allows me to build large structures which retain a sense of instability. Uniform colour focuses attention on the silhouette and surface details of each piece.
Overall, my practice aims to create believable but unfamiliar worlds that balance ideas of adaptation and resilience.
