My artwork explores femininity and womanhood through surreal, symbolic collage paintings and digital work. I focus on the things that surround me in my everyday life into 'impassioned objects', by juxtaposing them with unusual scale and dream logic. This is a method inspired by surrealism allowing the viewer to engage in an associative train of thought to infer the meaning. I use strange compositions in both my painting and my digital work to convey emotion over logic. I focus on juxtaposition between objects to portray tension and confusion, for example, the cigarettes, flame, and tiger would perhaps suggest danger or intensity, however, each of these objects are not depicted as threatening, they could even be described as soft and gentle. I think of my work as being intriguing and captivating, images that don’t explain themselves, the same way that dreams and thoughts don’t have a rhyme or reason. I would like my work to invite viewers to infer their own meanings.
