Organic matter on canvas (series)
My practice is inspired by my upbringing on a sheep and beef farm. I have a particular interest in portraying the reality of the farm rather than a romanticised version often seen in traditional landscape painting or within fine art.
To achieve this, I place canvases in active parts of the farm such as gateways and feeding areas and allow marks to build up naturally through the movement of livestock, people, and the elements. The work becomes a record of everyday farm life, capturing traces of labour and movement that are usually overlooked.
