My work embodies the experience of existing in online spaces as a young autistic girl, oblivious to the unsavoury underbelly of an unregulated internet. It focuses on exploration of a hyper fixation, in this instance all things marine life, and indulging in creative expression only for it to be corrupted by an onlooker with an unknown intent. The work I made in response to this is a fantastical reimagining of my own experiences; it represents the absurdity of the situation and makes the viewer experience the confusion that comes with such an interaction.
I work predominantly in digital mediums, a result of my time existing in fandom spaces as a child and seeing that art can be more than just pen and paper. My whole project is both a love letter and a cautionary tale to these fandom spaces I grew up in.
